Maharaja conquers Taiwan, only Indian film to trend for 6 weeks

The Tamil film Maharaja, featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, has been living up to its name. Marking Sethupathi’s 50th film, Maharaja was released on the streaming giant Netflix in June. While it was released in India on June 14, it was released within a week in other countries all over the globe, including Middle-Eastern, South Asian and East Asian nations.
The Tamil film was streaming in Taiwan from June 18. The film has reached the list of top 10 non-English films in the country now, where it has been holding the position for six weeks straight, as of October 27. What’s more – it is the only Indian film on the list to have achieved the feat.

Maharaja trends in Taiwan for six weeks straight.

Some people in the nation spoke highly of the film. Professor Sean Tzu-hsuan Chen of National Taiwan Sport University mentioned the film being appreciated by the Taiwanese audience. He stated that it has been able to maintain its position in the top 10 non-English films in Taiwan, thanks to strong word-of-mouth. He also spoke about how the Taiwanese audience loves Aamir Khan, saying that 3 Idiots has been extremely popular in the country.

Maharaja has been on the top 10 list in India for a record 12 weeks, only to disappear from the list from October 14.
